What better way to enjoy admiring the beautiful countryside, than on a narrow gauge, steam train. From April to October, The South Tynedale Railway heads northwards for almost 5 miles from Alston in Cumbria, past the original terminus at Gilderdale, on through Kirkhaugh and Lintley to the village of Slaggyford. The Crossing Cafe at Alston station is currently open Thursday – Sunday 10am to 4pm and the Little Buffet Car in Slaggyford re-opens in April.
